You can make a big change in the appearance of your home without spending a lot when you try these easy home improvement project ideas from CreditBox. If you need some help funding your DIY home improvement projects, though, applying for one of our Installment Loans may offer the help you need. These easy projects focus on decor, such as painting small areas, adding trim, and setting up a bookcase wall.

Add Faux Wainscoting and a Chair Rail
Add a charming, traditional look to your decor by adding faux wainscoting and a chair rail to your dining area. This easy DIY home improvement project uses a few two-inch wide boards that are about ⅛-inch to ¼-inch thick and a piece of decorative molding. Cut the boards to about the height of your dining chair backs.

Apply a thin layer of adhesive to the back of each board then hammer brads (a type of nail) into the boards to secure them. Apply the decorative molding horizontally across the tops using the same steps. Primer, then paint, the molding, boards, and area between the boards.

Paint Interior, Exterior, or Garage Doors
For easy home improvement projects that make a big visual impact without investing a lot of time or money, consider painting a single design element such as a door. This can be an interior door if you want to add a bit of decorative emphasis to a wall. It can also be an exterior door or garage door if you want to raise the curb appeal of your home.

Make a Library Wall
A library wall is a simple DIY home improvement project that’s ideal for book lovers. Choose two or three tall bookcases that go as close to the ceiling as possible and are wide enough to cover the width of a wall. Use anchoring hardware to mount the bookcases side-by-side to the wall.

If the bookcases go to the ceiling, consider adding some decorative light fixtures. If there’s a gap at the top between the ceiling and top of the bookcases, take advantage of the space to display a few decor items.

Paint the Cabinets
Some other easy home improvement projects that don’t take long to do include painting kitchen and bathroom cabinets. Wash cabinet surfaces with degreasing cleaner and allow the surfaces to dry completely before painting. Tape over cabinet hardware using painter’s tape or masking tape.

Gently sand the surfaces you plan to paint using fine-grit sandpaper. Apply a layer of primer, then after it dries completely apply a coat of paint. Remove the tape from the hardware and allow the paint to dry.
